Bellingham Deck, Patio, and Pavilion

We were contacted to design and build a replacement deck and outdoor living area by the new owners of this property.  The existing backyard/deck did not fit their lifestyle or tastes and the deck was due for maintenance and repair.

The entire backyard was covered with a cedar deck that was going to need some attention if it were to stay.  Along with this large, ageing deck was a massive hot tub that the new owners had no intentions of using, it seems that you are either "hot tub people" or you are not. 

Our charge was to come up with a design that would be visually interesting, tie the home to the outdoors, provide space for a covered area to BBQ, and provide multiple seating areas to take advantage of the patterns of light and shade throughout the day.

 

 
From the radius patios to the more formal but flowing deck, the use of a variety of materials and spaces allows for the smooth transition from landscape to home. The central pavilion with its built in benches can serve as a place to sit and converse
